Post 16 - Dress Code

  • You are at the top of the school and have a responsibility to set an example to others.
  • Taking care with your appearance goes hand in hand with taking care with your work.
  • This is a place of work and you should dress appropriately. “Dress smart, think smart!”

Please follow these simple rules:

Not Allowed

Smart business clothing

Scruffy appearance
Offensive logos

Shirt with a collar and tie
Smart top/blouse

Denim of any colour, which includes jeans, dungarees  and denim jackets
Tracksuits or combat trousers

Business skirt, dress or trousers
(including smart chinos)

Leggings, shorts and T shirts
Short skirts (should be an appropriate length i.e. no more than 6cm above the knee)
No leather skirts or trousers
Exposure of large amounts of bare flesh – strappy, low cut tops, off the shoulder tops or cold shoulder tops

Appropriate jewellery
Discrete piercings with a stud

Unnatural hair colours and extreme facial piercings/hoops/bars
Visible tattoos (tattoos must be covered)

Smart shoes

Trainers, Flips flops, Floral Boots/shoes

 A smart coat

No hoodies or tracksuit tops

REQUIRED:  Lanyards at all times & face coverings in line with COVID rules

Hats are not to be worn, no headphones or mobile phones around school

Remember, if in doubt – don’t wear it!

Please take note of the following:

  • The decision for whether clothing/jewellery is appropriate rests with staff.
  • Those students who are not adhering to the Post 16 dress code will be asked to go home to change.  There will be no exceptions to this rule.
  • Absences will be classed as unauthorised and may result in you being a parental entry and charged for your examination entries.
