Music – a –thon and Craft Fayre.
Following a lengthy audition process involving videos and audition tapes the school choir and acapella groups were invited to travel to Disneyland Paris in July. However a trip such as this involves a huge outlay in costs totalling over £10,000. In addition Music Equipment is becoming more and more expensive and, unfortunately, beyond the reach of many school budgets.
Step forward an extremely supportive group of parents and students and an immense amount of fundraising!
As part of this we planned a ‘Music-a-Thon’ and Autumn Craft Fayre. This took place in the Ken Stimpson Canteen area (Leisure Centre).
The ‘Music-a-Thon’ involved all our music students creating a non-stop 12 hour Music Marathon from 9am – 9pm but, alongside this, there was a Craft Fayre that took place between 10am and 4pm. Choir members had sponsorship forms for the music and this will be split 60% towards our Disney trip and 40% towards music equipment. However, in addition, there was a raffle, tombola and a café area as well as a collection bucket. All the amounts collected through these items went towards our Disney performance.

Reason for event
Provided our students with the opportunity to experience the wealth of performing arts that happens within the community and it also provided our students with a chance to see beyond performing within school and start to become more confident within the community and become more comfortable performing to a mix of audience members.
