The aims of the course are to:

- Give opportunities for travel and tourism employees to acheive a nationally recognised Level 2 vocational qualification.
- Give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in the travel and tourism sector or to progress to higher vocational qualifications such as the BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Travel and Tourism or the BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Aviation Operations.
- Give learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
