Perceptions Surveys

In January 2010 Education Perception Surveys commissioned by the school for both parents and students were undertaken.  The complete report for each may be downloaded by clicking the links below.  The Executive Summaries from the reports are also shown below.

Executive Summary - Parents

The survey results reveal that the school has reason to be happy with most of its activities.With regard to Academic subjects, parents are most happy with the delivery of French, Dance and ICT.
The parents are least happy with the delivery of German, Resistant Materials and Product Design.
With regard to Non-Academic areas, parents are most happy with the delivery of School Facilities, School security and Social health education.
The parents are least happy with the delivery of Exam results, School communication and Levels of homework.
The parents' top priority for improvement is Teaching quality.
The parents of boys gave significantly higher scores for Truancy control and Encouraging and listening to parent views.
The parents of girls gave significantly higher scores for Dance, Art and German.
On balance, significantly more parents felt that their child was "not pushed hard enough" rather than "pushed too hard".
The survey has achieved a good benchmark of performance against which future academic years might be compared.

Executive Summary - Students

The survey results reveal that the school has reason to be happy with most of its activities.
With regard to Academic criteria, the highest proportion of pupils who said they were making good progress was for PSHE, Dance and Food Technology.
The highest proportion of pupils who said they were not making good progress was for German, Resistant Materials and RE.
With regard to Non-Academic areas, pupils awarded the highest scores for the delivery of School facilities, Availability of resources and Social health education.
The pupils awarded the lowest scores for the delivery of School communication, School discipline and Exam results.
The pupils' top priority for improvement is School discipline.
The boys gave significantly higher scores for Mathematics, Physical Education,
Choice of subjects and School's image in the local community.
The girls gave significantly higher scores for Art, Dance, RE, Music, Product Design, I have a homework area at home and There are books at home to help me.
The survey has achieved a good benchmark of performance against which future academic years might be compared.
