Key Stage 4
Students are placed into smaller groups for GCSE’s to maximise their chances of achieving their Target Grades. This is done by allo0cating 2 extra teaching groups in both year 10 & 11.
Students follow the modular course which allows for the flexibility of moving tiers. Unit 1 (worth 20%) is examined in June in year 10. Unit 2 is examined in March in year 10. Therefore, 50% of the GCSE Maths course is covered by the end of year 10. The remaining 50% is examined at the end of Year 11.
Students are also entered for GCSE Statistics in Year 10, a separate qualification to GCSE Maths. This GCSE will contain a piece of coursework, worth 25% of the final marks which is completed by the beginning of Year 10.
