Gifted and Talented
Ken Stimpson Community School has special programmes to cater for Gifted and Talented* students. These students, approximately 10% of the total student body, are identified by in-school data returns and staff nominations. Teachers with Gifted and Talented students in their lessons are aware of who the students are, so their progress is monitored closely ensuring students are given opportunities in the classroom appropriate to their needs.
Additionally, a number of special programmes operate for the Gifted and Talented cohort. These include:
- Identified gifted students are combined to form fast track groups in both years 7 and 8
- Extra-curricular activities in a variety of subject areas to support Gifted and Talented students
- Extra coaching in a range of sports for talented athletes
- Student support sessions for KS4
- Visits to and discussions with Cambridge, University of East Anglia and Loughborough Universities for students in Year 11
The whole-school Gifted and Talented programme is co-ordinated by a designated member of the Leadership Team.
